Mindfulness in open design-based thinking
As Head of Business Transformation and Innovation in UK/Ireland at EY, Michael Von der Geest is at the forefront of the EY business transformation practice. He has over 25 years’ experience supporting clients in delivering complex multi-year technology-enabled change programmes. Leading by example, Michael practises and promotes Mindful Leadership in his organisation, which has been especially needed during the recent global health crisis.

Michael, what drew you to mindfulness and how has it become part of your own wellbeing plan?
I was first guided towards the practice by my partner who was using mindfulness as part of her well-being and within her profession in the realm of child and adolescent psychiatry. I then participated in a 12-week mindfulness course which really helped me to fully engage in the practice and benefitted me and the people I regularly interact with.
